It’s hard to be a good personal scientist unless you read widely, and we do — all over the map. Since much of what we read (and think!) is well out of the mainstream, we reserve posts like this one for our paid subscribers only. The paywall is here, not for the money, but as an ID check. These posts are sent only to paid subscribers, and by reading further, you agree to take everything we say with a large grain of the same skepticism that we do.

This week our unpopular topics include a new book and other whacko readings about COVID, some insomnia treatment ideas that we haven’t tried (you first!), and our usual mix of statistics you won’t read in the New York Times.
